Dementia Controller Keypad

Dementia care is a priority for all long term care providers, including assisted living. NurseCallOnline has developed an intelligent sensor technology that helps improve the quality of care for residents with dementia. Ideally suited for residents who are unable to operate a manual call station, the intelligent sensors monitor potentially dangerous or preventable situations within a room. Each resident may be assigned a profile, which determines parameters such as the times the resident may exit the bed and the expected duration that they will be out of the bed (for example, if the resident uses the ensuite in the middle of the night). Should the resident not return to bed within the expected profile period, then the Nurse Call System will trigger an alarm. The Dementia Management Keypad provides three states of operation day, night or manual mode. Each mode is individually programmable to meet the needs of each resident. Each of the sensors is programmable to recognise an alarm as being active instantly or after a pre-determined time, to allow for the alarm condition to be reset within a designated period. This pre-determined period is programmable for day, night or manual mode of operation. Each sensor is programmable for activation between and 40 minutes, to provide sufficient time for residents to exit their bed, visit the ensuite and return. As an added security precaution, a proximity key is required to alter the system programming on the Dementia keypad. Compatibility: Compatible with Advance Care nurse call systems only. Installation: A qualified technician is required to install this product. NurseCallOnline can assist with installation of this product. Call us today for more information.

Tender Specifications: Supply and install the Dementia Management Unit where indicated on the drawings. The flush mounted Dementia Management Unit shall be manufactured of polycarbonate plastic with a snap on cover to conceal the fixings. The administration buttons will be constructed of polycarbonate resin thermoplastic and comply with IP53 to ensure suitability for residential cleaning. The system shall be capable of determining when a resident activities fall outside the selected parameters, and is therefore likely to require assistance by the care staff. Access to the Dementia Management Unit will be restricted through the use of a proximity key, to ensure that only trained nursing staff are permitted to alter the system programming and/or activate/deactivate the profile. The Dementia Management Unit consists of a Room Bus Module and a passage mounted room profiler interface. The Room Bus Module allows for all nurse call related connections within the room including all nurse call related Call Buttons and room sensors. Sensors include bedroom PIR, ensuite PIR, front door, curtain PIR, external door reed switch and enuresis sensor. The Room Bus Module allows for interfacing to bedroom and ensuite lighting. This enables lights to be turned on automatically if the resident exits the bed or if they enter the ensuite and turn off all the lights once they get back into bed. The Dementia Management Unit has three states of operation day, night or manual mode. Each mode is individually programmable to meet the needs of each resident. Each of the sensors will be programmable to recognise an alarm as being active instantly or after a predetermined period, to allow for the alarm condition to be reset within a designated period. This predetermined period will be programmable for day, night or manual mode of operation. Each sensor will be programmable for activation between 0 and 40 minutes, to provide sufficient time for residents to exit their bed, visit the ensuite and return. The Dementia Management Unit will support four overdoor lights and three outputs, for activation of internal lighting controls. Any callpoint activations or sensor activations will be able to turn on any combination of overdoor lights and lighting controls, to provide automatic assistance to the resident. The Dementia Management Unit will provide a current limited 12 Volt DC Power Supply, to provide support for third party sensors such as Reed Switches, Passive Infrared Motion (PIR) Sensors, Bed Exit Alarms and Enuresis Sensors.
